Psst… Before you read through this post, I wanted to let you know about a Toolkit that only comes around once a year! The 2017 Genius Blogger's Toolkit is ONLY around through October 9th – almost $6,000 worth of tools, plus $1,193 in bonus offers!
In fact, one of the resources in the Toolkit is all about Instagram! It's a guide called Instagram Unlocked: How to Gain Followers and Engagement that Lasts by Helene Sula.
This Toolkit sets you up to SOAR with your blogging goals, even if you don't need all the tools right away. It's a no-brainer purchase– that's why I'm an affiliate AND contributor. Find out more about the bundle here.
You snapped the perfect image to share on Instagram.
You upload it, write a caption, and then….
Which hashtags should I use? Which ones did I use last time when I posted about similar subject? Any other hashtags I should try?
And down the hashtag rabbit hole you go, my friend.
Don't worry- we'll fix that right up.
The 10-Minute Touch Up is a quick, weekly challenge to get you DOING, not just reading about doing. Consider it a way to touch up your blogging just 10 minutes at a time!
Challenge: Set up a custom list of hashtags so all you have to do is copy + paste it into Instagram.
Why: Two words: SAVES TIME. You'll also ensure you aren't missing out on some great hashtags you used in the past, because they'll all be saved for you. (Are you drooling yet?)
How to Do It
It's not the prettiest looking app on the block, but it serves its purpose, which is to make you more awesome.
Could you simply just keep a list of hashtags in your Notes app? Sure, but Tag for Likes helps you find hashtags to use AND it's just a single tap to copy them all.
1. Download Tag for Likes Pro.
2. Start with a Category for the Topic of your Instagram Image.
On the main screen, you'll see a list of some common topics.
And then when you tap on one, you'll see even narrower topics as well.
Find what you're looking for then, go ahead and tap “Copy Tags” (don't worry if you don't want to use all of them- we'll get to that).
If you didn't find a category based on your topic, no biggie. You'll just have to search through Instagram a little to figure out what hashtags you might want to use. Just skip this step and go to step 3!
3. Go Back to Home Screen and Tap “Custom.”
Once you're there, select New Custom to create a new group of hashtags just for you.
4. Tap “New Custom” to Rename Your Group of Hashtags.
Name is whatever will make sense for you. I have ones named Quotes, Group Fitness, Blogging Tip, etc.
5. Double Tap to Paste Your Category List and Refine Your List.
This is your starting point for hashtags. Here's what I do:
- Immediately delete the Tag for Likes promotional ones #TagforLikes.com #TFLers because I don't want spammy people looking for a like for a like.
- Remove any hashtags that aren't relevant for me regarding that topic.
- Spend a few minutes on Instagram checking out a few of the popular hashtags for that topic and then copy and paste some new ones back into my custom list.
6. Tap Save.
When you're ready to use that group of hashtags, just go into your list and tap “Copy Tags.”
You can then tap the arrow to go directly to Instagram. I like to put my group of hashtags in the first comment after I post so it looks cleaner, but there's no right or wrong way.
With each post, I often delete or add a tag or two from my base list. But at least my main group of hashtags is saved so I can grab it quickly.
Have You Ever Tried This App?
If not, give it a whirl and let me know what you think!
